Nadal Pediatrics…That was the sign I read while driving by the building.
Then it dawned on me, what the heck is Nadal Pediatrics? Doctors for Kids?
I don’t mean to sound ignorant but I didn’t understand.
Then I thought it must be me. So I asked a woman who has her master’s degree and she wasn’t even sure.
Her response, “I think it’s something to do with the health of babies”
How similar is this situation much like our own communication?
“What did the boss say?” “I think she meant…”
Sometimes the message to us makes perfect sense but the receiver has no clue. Or we like to use a $10 word when a $2 word will make more of an impact.
And a confused mind does not engage.
Ever walk into a meeting late and they are using examples or talking in jargon and you don’t have a clue?
Or ever tell someone what you do and you can tell from the look on their face that they didn’t get it? (Happened to me before)
The idea is to make our messages as clear as possible. We should keep reexamining the way we communicate with others.

In your communication throughout the day, ask yourself…how can I make it clear?

A good sign that we are communicating is that people will start to engage with us. They will start to ask questions because they want to know more.

A person’s communication skills is really important in a workplace. If your leader is a good communicator, the message would be purveyed properly and clearly. There would be less chances of error or anything.
